contest - design the AOB t-shirt

That's right! There will soon be an Army of Björk t-shirt! However, we need your help to come up with a stunning design. Don't miss this opportunity to create the shirt that your fellow björkies will be wearing all over the globe! Here's how to get involved:

contest overview

  • Each member may submit as many designs as they would like. More designs will give us more options, but concentrate on quality rather than quantity. See submissions guidelines below for a few things to consider when creating your masterpiece designs
  • All designs will be posted here on the club website, so that members can view the designs and choose which is their favorite
  • Designs must be submitted by 11:59 PM PST on February 19, 2001. Any late entries will not be accepted, so be sure to get your submissions in early. Send submissions to contest@bjorkclub.com
  • Members will select the winning designs in two rounds of voting, each taking about 7 days. In round 1, the submissions will be narrowed down to the top 5 or 6 choices. In round 2, we will select the final winner or winners (yes, we might make 2 different designs available)
  • Once the winner has been chosen, we will make the shirts available to everyone in the club. We are still examining the cost and feasibility of having them professionally printed. If we can swing the upfront costs, we will make the shirts available online at cost (in other words, we wont make any profit - you just pay for the expense of producing the shirt). If the upfront costs are prohibitive, the winning design will be available for download, to be printed onto an iron-on transfer. We will also make the iron-on's available to members who send in a self-addressed, stamped envelope large enough to hold the sheet unfolded. (More details when we determine what method we will be using)

submission guidelines

Designs must be original and of your own creation. They should be submitted in .gif or .jpeg format as an email attachment sent to contest@bjorkclub.com

For legal reasons, all entries must conform to the following rules (remember, we are not officially endorsed by Björk or her management, so we need to observe a few legalities)

  • Do not use photographic images of Björk, album cover in whole or in part, or any other copyrighted images. This includes the Björk logo and "B" seen on many of her albums. If you would like to use a drawn, painted or otherwise original likeness of Björk, go right ahead
  • Do not use quotes from Björk's music or other copyrighted written material
  • Do not use the fonts commonly associated with Post or Homogenic, and do not imitate Bjork's handwriting

Also, we are encouraging designs for use with two different types of shirts. The first is the standard plain white t-shirt. The second is an olive green or camoflage shirt, capitalizing on an Army theme. If we have sufficient designs in both categories, we will select winners for both types of shirts and make both available.

Remember that when we wear these shirts, we will also be promoting the club to potential club members. You might want to include Army of Bjork, AOB, www.bjorkclub.com or other such info in your design.

questions and feedback

If you would like to help out with the contest or have feedback for us, please send your questions and comments to contest@bjorkclub.com. Good luck to all the budding artists out there. We're sure the winning design will be a source of pride for all of our members!
